It all started as a normal day in the small town of Gilligan, California. The golden sun as big as a beach ball shined brightly in the sky. The water was calm and the waves were crashing gently against the rocks. People were surfing and playing in the sun. All of a sudden, the sky turned as black as night and the clouds ate up the sun. Everyone dashed back to their houses as the storm of the century hit!
Out of no where, a wave that was a thousand feet high rose up, out of the ocean. It had just barely hit the shoreline, but in a few seconds went directly back to sea leaving a baby in its place. The town was unharmed and the sea turned calm again. As the sun peeked out from the clouds the Mayor’s wife stepped out on her front porch. There in the sand was a cradle made out of seaweed holding a baby with eyes as green as the seaweed he was held in. She picked him up and quickly brought him into her house before anyone could see him. She kept him hidden for years, even from her husband because she knew he was going to be special, she just had that feeling. She hadlater proclaimed that she had named her baby Jim- Bob Horton.
Jimmy grew up on the shoreline of California. Every day he would swim and collect seashells. He was a very reliable and determined young boy. His duty as a child was to collect clams or fish for dinner. One day his mother called,
“Jimmy its five o’clock did you get me something to make for dinner?”
“No,” he said his head down in shame. He swam back into the water and his mother was so furious at him until she realized he was trying to get his family food.
As the years past Jimmy got a job as a lifeguard, he could swim better than anyone else. People thought, “He’s a fish!” Jimmy grew up and became a sailor as everyone in the townexpected. He was always serious about his work, even if it was justcatching fish! He was as determined as a soldier. Jimmy grew up to be both strong and tall. His arms were as thick as logs, and he could lift five bears with one hand! He was also 10 feet tall! The town came to know Jimmy as a future role model that was a kind and a loving hero. From that point on his goal was to keep nature a safe environment to all people and animals for future generations.
One dayafter leaving home and living aboard his boat Jimmy went far out to sea with his crew. His crew had later told Jimmy’s parents that he had nearly drowned, but the second they could no longer see him, a dolphin rose up from the water. Across the dolphin’s back, lay Jimmy. It had saved his life! Jimmy named the dolphin Crystal Blue because he was bluer then the Caribbean Ocean and ten feet long. For the rest of Jimmy’s life Crystal Blue was by his side.
“Heeeeelp!Heeeeelp!”Cried a young mother.Jimmy awakened that Sunday morning to the crying of his town begging for him to come. Crystal Blue and a small child were stuck off shore for the water was polluted with oil. The black gooey goop was five feet deep and it would attach to you with no release.
“Calm down”, said Jimmy’s deep voice, “I will save these two creatures.”As Jimmy had grown up he had become very confident in himself, he was as confident as a lion. Jimmy was so strong that he was able to push the oil aside like it was marshmallows and instead of it flowing back into the cleared path or sticking to him, it had stayed right where he push it. He quickly freed the small child and Crystal Blue and brought them back to shore.
Now, Jimmy had to protect his environment and all the creatures in it. He cleared all the oil, but more started to recoat the ocean again. Jimmy then knew what he had to do, the ocean was dangerous, but he had similar traits of a fish. He could practically swim underwater! He swam 10,000 feet deep through the thick oil and saw what was causing the problem. There was a man made machine that was supposed to be collecting oil from inside the Earth’s crust, but the lid had come off. With the help of Crystal Blue he topped the machine causing the hot oil to stop sputtering out. As the crowd waited, underwater Crystal Blue watched helplessly as Jimmy started to sink down deeper and deeper with his eyes closed and mouth open. Back on land, when the town saw the water currents travel outwards, the mayor’s wife started to cry in happiness, but quickly started crying out of sadness. When Crystal had come up Jimmy was laid across his back. The same way he was laid when he almost drowned, but this time they knew he had drowned.
Sadly, Jimmy had died after stopping the oil that had once ruined the sea. The town cried for weeks and had a memorial for him in the center of town so he could always be remembered. The president John F. Kennedy visited Jimmy himself to say a last good-bye. The town sees Jimmy oftentoo;perhapswhen it rains they say that, the rain is Jimmy swimming in the clouds. And every century on Jimmy’s birthday he, himself creates a tsunami to hit every continent inremembrance of him. Overall, Jim-Bob Horton learned that he could not defeat modern technology from polluting and ruining the world’s environment and its’ animals/people. Modern technology was taught that Jim-Bob Horton’s tsunamis were greater than them!
